It’s summertime in the city – and that means tons of fun activities for locals and visitors of all ages. From outdoor movies to family-friendly museum exhibits to evening booze cruises, here’s a look at some of the best activities downtown Baltimore has to offer this summer:
Catch a Flick
On Fridays during July or August, the Open Air Film Festival descends upon Little Italy. The films, which are screened on the side of Ciao Bella Restaurant, include classics with an Italian twist, like The Godfather and the original Ocean’s Eleven. Get there early, with chairs, to grab a good spot (and some great carry-out to enjoy).

Embrace Your Inner Klutz
KLUTZ Amazingly Immature, an interactive exhibit, has taken up residence at Port Discovery from now through September 4. The exhibit is fun, but also sneaks in some science and math. Kids (and their parents) will learn everything from how to juggle to how to transform money into wearable rings.

On Tuesday, August 15, moms and dads can find plenty to cheer about at Center Plaza, located at 120 West Fayette Street. Form 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the plaza will be home to a fun play date with educational activities from Fangs, Frogs & More.
Explore the Sea
Get to know the Aquarium’s 20,000+ aquatic animals this summer – on a budget. Friday nights at the National Aquarium are a great deal: thanks to M&T Bank, general admission after 5 p.m. is half price.
Every Friday evening, all summer long, Cruises on the Bay by Watermark sets off on an evening happy hour cruise, from the harbor to the Key Bridge and back again. Cruises depart from 401 Light Street and take about an hour and a half, during which you’ll see the city and port – and can enjoy drinks from a fully stocked bar.
On Saturday evenings, an hour-long cruise leaves the same location around 8 p.m., just in time to catch the sunset and take in the city as it lights up and comes to life for the evening.

Get to know the Inner Harbor from a new perspective: while hunting for clues. The Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure is a team-based activity that will take you all over the harbor, learning about the nooks and crannies of the city while solving clues. The adventure starts at the Maryland Science Center and is guided by a smart phone.

When making arrangements for any downtown events, make parking part of your plan. Harbor Park Garage, located at 55 Market Place, is a convenient and reasonably-priced spot to park for events in and around downtown. As a bonus, the garage is staffed with a helpful, knowledgeable crew who can point you in the right direction after you park.
