This time of year, the weather is gorgeous in Baltimore, making it an ideal time to catch a live outdoor music show downtown. While the COVID-19 pandemic put many shows on hold, now that cases have stabilized and venues have a better understanding of how to safely host events, live music is back in Charm City.
Here’s a look at upcoming shows you won’t want to miss:
Live Music Weekends at Power Plant Live!
Each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Power Plant Live! presents live music on its outdoor concert stage. Each night, the stage is taken over by engaging acts from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests can safely enjoy the vibe while having drinks and food in the expanded outdoor seating at Leinie’s Lodge & Beer Garden or Tin Roof.
Free Pirate Radio Concert in the Inner Harbor
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the waterside pirate radio concert series is back, with a performance from Rufus Roundtree & Da Bmore Brass Band.
The concerts are a partnership between WTMD radio and the Urban Pirates ships, which patrol the water around the Inner Harbor. The Oct. 24 concert will be the third in the series.
The band will play from the deck of the ship, which will travel around the harbor, stopping occasionally to deliver a fun, free concert. The ship will stop in the Inner Harbor around 6:15 p.m. – and the promenade is an ideal place to find a safe spot to listen and watch.
Six Feet Beats at Power Plant Live!
On Friday, Oct. 30, Rise Among Rivals and Dead Eyes team up for a socially distanced outdoor show at Power Plant Live! The concert will have a Halloween edge, with creepy movies on a big screen and themed cocktails to accompany the rock bands’ music.
Indoor Shows Are Back, Too!
Though most live music shows are happening outside this fall, some local venues have also reintroduced indoor shows – with many precautions and guidelines in place to ensure safety and social distancing.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, Baltimore Soundstage welcomes Beanie Sigel for two performances. Sigel is a South Philly hip hop artist with a long career (and a recent appearance on Jay-Z’s “Where I’m From”).
Planning for the Future
More shows are in the works – both outdoors and indoors. A seated, socially distanced “Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror” show will make a splash at Baltimore Soundstage on Nov. 1 and The Legwarmers will be back to entertain 80’s fans at Ram’s Head Live! on Nov. 14. Mark your calendars and get tickets now!
Where to Park when Heading Downtown to Listen to Music
Whether you’re headed down for drinks and tunes at Power Plant Live!, looking for some pirate ship entertainment, or you have tickets to an upcoming show at a local venue, planning your musical excursion includes figuring out where to park.
Harbor Park Garage, located at 55 Market Place, is just steps from the Inner Harbor and is adjacent to Power Plant Live! – plus many fun places to grab a drink or bite to eat.
The garage is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is extremely convenient to I-83 and other major routes in and out of downtown Baltimore. Harbor Park is clean and well-lit, with many new coronavirus safety and sanitation guidelines in place. The friendly, knowledgeable staff is always happy to answer questions about where to go, what to do, how to get there, and about the garage’s policies.
