Light city a festival of light music and innovation.

Get ready for some sparkle, Baltimore – Light City is back!

Now in its third year, the free annual festival of light, music and innovation will take over downtown Baltimore and neighborhoods throughout the city this April. The festivities begin the weekend of April 6-18, with Neighborhood Lights.

Where Is Neighborhood Lights?

Acting as the kick-off for the longer event, Neighborhood Lights drums up enthusiasm from Baltimore locals and visitors alike. The weekend-long spectacle showcases the work of Baltimore-based artists, each of whom received a $15,000 grant to create a light-based visual or performance art project in neighborhoods around the city.

This year, the work of a dozen different artists will be featured and 14 neighborhoods are involved. Projects include Laure Drogoul’s “Grotto of the never, never, neverending Neverland,” located in the bocce courts in Little Italy, which uses recycled materials to comment on sustainability and features live performances; and “Feel,” a wild visual installation by Sean Michael Kenny, located in the Bromo Tower Arts and Entertainment District.

T. Rowe Price and Bloomberg Philanthropies are sponsorship partners of Neighborhood Lights.

What Comes Next?

Neighborhood Lights is just the beginning of the fun. Light City proper, which takes place around the Inner Harbor, begins on April 14. Don’t miss the BGE Light Art Walk, which features captivating light art from both local and global artists, as well as a terrific lineup of musical guests and other performers.

The event will close out with Labs@LightCity, a series of workshops and talks designed to spark discussion and promote innovation.

Where Should I Park?

In 2017, almost half a million people visited Light City over the course of just over a week. This year, the crowd is likely to be just as vibrant. That’s exciting for the city and the visitors – and it also means it makes sense to plan your parking strategy ahead of time.

When you’re visiting the main event in the Inner Harbor, or neighborhood lights located anywhere near downtown (particularly the Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District and Little Italy), Harbor Park Garage is a good bet for parking. Located at 55 Market Place, the garage is a perfect starting and ending point that will allow you to get in and out of downtown without hassle. Park for a flat rate of $15 anytime after 5 p.m. – this will give you plenty of time to enjoy dinner before sunset, when the lights come alive.

Plan ahead even more by reserving your spot with ParkWhiz, which allows you to reserve and prepay for your spot, so you won’t have to hunt and search once you get downtown.

If you have any questions about where to go or how to get there, the friendly and knowledgeable Harbor Park staff is here to help: they will be happy to point you in the right direction and answer your questions. Get your flat rate parking by following this link – https://goo.gl/rFAeQp
