Two dolphins with a broken heart in the water.

The National Aquarium community is mourning the loss of Nani, the oldest of our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Late Monday afternoon, Nani began to exhibit unusual behavior. At approximately 44 years of age, Nani was the matriarch of the dolphins residing at the National Aquarium and the mother of Spirit and Beau. We feel so fortunate to have had Nani in our lives, and we are sure that many of our volunteers, members and guestsRead More →

The event – which is part festival, part market, all fun – pops up in a normally empty space. This year, it will be held in the former Best Buy space atRead More →

Last year, when the organizers of Light City announced their inaugural event, people in and around Baltimore weren’t quite sure what to expect. This year, when the city announced the return of the event, they knew what was coming: something spectacular. Dubbed “a festival of light, music and innovation,” Light City will return to Baltimore this year on March 31; events are planned through April 8. Like last year, 2017’s Light City will feature the work of dozens of light artists, musicians and other performers, from dance troupes to comedians. Several of last year’s most popular installations will return, including the multicolored peacock, which willRead More →
